Many people are surprised to learn that the air inside of their home is usually 2 – 5 times more polluted than that outside their home. And it can be up to 100 times more polluted. That’s according to the EPA.

How does the air we breathe become so polluted?

A number of factors contribute to this including:

  • burning food
  • pet dander
  • dead skin cells
  • carbon dioxide that we breathe out
  • pet accidents
  • exhaust from fuel sources
  • So, how do we get rid of such pollutants?

First and foremost, make sure that you change out your filter every month. Next, have your ducts and heating/air system cleaned out at least once or twice per year. Third, regularly deep-clean your floors, including tiled surfaces and having your carpet cleaned through steam-extraction. Last, add as many plants as possible, and open windows and doors to increase air circulation.
