Energy efficiency is the new wave in new construction, and HiCaliber knows how to build economical, efficient buildings that are both functional yet eye appealing. HiCaliber is an award winning builder with State, Local and National awards. We have been building in Arizona, Nevada and Utah, as well as out of the country since 1976.

This particular home is being built with a specialized insulation that is literally sprayed onto the walls and ceiling, making it easier for attic access. The home owner won’t have to worry about debris and insulation falling from the ceiling. Also the temperature will never raise 4 degrees higher than the home temperature. Anyone who has ever been in an attic knows how important it is to have temperature control. They won’t need gloves to access any holiday décor either, the insulation will also keep the heat in.

The roof is being built with custom tiles that allow wind to circulate through and be released at the top. Yet another brilliant cost saver. Roof repairs will be minimal over the years.

With more than 11,000 new construction projects under our belts, you can be sure that the HiCaliber Professionals have the knowledge to get your job done right.

Advantages of Carpet In Your Home

The advantages carpeting in your home

Provides Warmth and Comfort

Carpet provides actual thermal resistance, or R-value. In colder climates or seasons, it retains warm air longer, an energy conservation benefit. Carpet also provides a comfortable place to sit, play or work and gives a room an overall warmer feeling.

carpet_flooring

Adds Beauty and Style

You can choose from many thousands of carpet styles and colors. That means your ultimate choice will reflect how you want to personalize your living space. Carpet can be a neutral foundation, or it can be a focal point with vibrant colors and stronger bolder patterns and textures.

whycarpet

Improves Indoor Air Quality

New carpet is the lowest VOC-emitting flooring choice available. It actually acts as a passive air filter, trapping dust, pollen and other particles and removing them from the breathing zone. Studies have shown that people with asthma and allergy problems have seen symptoms improve with carpet.

Softens Slips and Falls

Carpet is ideal for cushioning our footsteps, reducing slips and falls and minimizing injuries when falls do occur. Carpet provides safety protection for the whole family, but especially for toddlers and older individuals.

Big screen TVs, speaker phones, computers and modern sound systems make our homes noisy places. Carpet helps absorb these sounds. Adding a cushion pad beneath your carpet reduces noise even further. Carpet also works as a sound barrier between floors by helping to block sound transmission to.

How HiCaliber can assist

Energy Efficient Construction

As concerns about energy supplies and global warming continue to be debated, one idea remains clear; the best way to reduce energy use is effective building insulation. Since buildings are responsible for about half of our total annual energy consumption, it only makes sense to design and build them with a lower appetite for energy in the first place. At HiCaliber, we work to design zero-energy homes. The term zero-energy refers to structures that have been designed with all components of the unit working together as a cohesive unit.

What does energy saving include?

The building shell, the windows, the HVAC, the hot water and the electrical are designed and constructed to optimize performance, thus giving our homes a 500+ year life-expectancy.

Cleaning Duct System Before Using Air Conditioner

The Temperature is rising! So What?

Now the temperature is rising, soon you will want to turn on the AC in your home.  Why not???  There are some things to consider before you crank up the air in your home!

With all the air that rushes through your air ducts, the fact that they get pretty dirty should not come as a surprise. That’s why it’s important to periodically have your air ducts professionally cleaned. An air-duct cleaning can improve the quality of the air in your home tremendously, and if you have people in your home with allergies or asthma, you may see a decrease in their symptoms.

air_duct_cleaning

Are there any health benefits that come from HVAC SYSTEM CLEANING?
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems have been shown to act as a collection source for a variety of contaminants that have the potential to affect health, such as mold, fungi, bacteria, and very small particles of dust. The removal of such contaminants from the HVAC system and home should be considered as one component in an overall plan to improve indoor air quality

Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit housing.

miami-duct-cleaning

Why Maintain Ducts?

If not properly INSTALLED, maintained, and operated, these components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris. If moisture is present, the potential for mold is increased and spores from such growth may be released into the home’s living space. Some of these contaminants may cause allergic reactions or other symptoms if exposure occurs.

List of signs you may have a problem:

  1. Development of allergies or the flare up of existing allergies
  2. Illness among members of your household with no obvious cause
  3. Visible dust and dirt on and around your home’s air vents*
  4. Visible growth of mold on or around air vents
  5. A musty odor coming from your HVAC system

Who Can Do The Job?

You should have your heating and cooling SYSTEM CLEANED by a professional. HiCaliber will clean all components and is qualified to do so for both Residential and Commercial buildings. Failure to clean a component of a contaminated system can result in re-contamination of the entire system, thus negating any potential benefits. HiCaliber uses specialized tools to dislodge dirt and other debris in ducts, using a high-powered vacuum cleaner to rid the area of the particles.

duct-cleaning

Is There a Way to Prevent Re occurrences?

In addition, HiCaliber applies chemical biocides, designed to kill microbiological contaminants to the inside of the duct work and to other system components. HiCaliber can also apply chemical treatments to encapsulate or cover the inside surfaces of the air ducts and equipment housings to help control mold growth and prevent the release of dirt particles or fibers from occurring.

ASBESTOS REMOVAL IN SOUTHERN UTAH

asbestos-house

HOW TO IDENTIFY ASBESTOS

Asbestos became increasingly popular among manufacturers and builders in the late 19th century because of its sound absorption, average tensile strength, and its resistance to heat, electrical, and chemical damage. The asbestos fibers were mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. However, it has recently gained attention for its negative impact on the health of those exposed to it!

asbestos-cancer

Dangers of Asbestos

The inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause serious illnesses including malignant lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis. Long-term exposure to high concentrations of asbestos fibers is what causes health problems; asbestos exists in the ambient air at low-levels, which itself does not cause health problems. Asbestos have been banned in certain areas around the world and laws have been enacted to prevent asbestos exposure, extraction, and the manufacturing and processing of asbestos products.

Asbestos

COMMON USES FOR ASBESTOS

If your home was built in the late 19th century, chances are Asbestos were used. Most commonly found in the ceiling. The term used most frequently is “popcorn ceilings.” It would be a wise decision to have your home tested by a Professional to see if Asbestos are present, and definitely consider having a home inspection done if you are planning on buying. A Licensed Inspector can tell you if you are at risk of Asbestos.

Dangerous taking of asbestos
